Building Strong Connections

I had a wonderful time at the networking event getting to know fellow Chamber members. Afterwards, I started thinking about how important it is for leaders to get out of their offices or away from their desks during lunch hours to spend time getting to know they employees and colleagues on a more personal level.

One of my clients created Talk Out Louds in which he is meeting with employees and giving them an opportunity to ask questions so they can get to know him and learn about what is going on in the company. The feedback that he is receiving is incredible! Employees are fully engaged during these sessions.

Another client decided to get out of her office and visit with employees with no agenda or for no specific reason. She has found that these drop ins are creating an environment where employees are more relaxed in her presence and all of this is in the midst of a reorganization.

When is the last time you went to lunch with a colleague or met someone for coffee/tea and only focused on getting to know that person on a more personal level? If it has been longer than 30 days consider meeting with someone within the next 14 days.
